My Little Surprise at 18
By Amanda
I was always the first one to say that I was never going to have kids. It was just something I didn't want. So you can imagine my surprise when I found out I was pregnant.
The day I found out was the scariest day of my life. I cried that whole day. I was only 17. I didn't know what I was going to do. I went home and told my boyfriend, and he was as happy as can be. So I finally I told my parents. They were upset but were there for me the whole time.
I went to the doctor five days past my due date, and I was only a centimeter dilated. The doctor said that it was still going to be a couple days before I was ready to go, but she wanted to check the water level in me first. Well, it turned out that there wasn't enough fluids around the baby, so they had to induce me that day.
I was in labor for 12 hours. It was the hardest thing I have ever been through, but it was worth it. At 5:11 a.m. on April 23 my baby girl, Kaylie, was born.
Now that I have her, I don't know how I ever said I didn't want kids. She is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Its hard work being a mom, but Kaylie's dad and my mom help me a whole lot with her. So for all you pregnant teens: Good luck and don't worry about what people say about you. It's all worth it once you hold your baby in your arms.
