My Perfect Little Boy
By Amy
My waters broke around 1 a.m. on the Friday morning but I did not have my first contraction until about 2:15 a.m. They were very strong from the beginning but they got stronger about 11 p.m. on the Saturday evening. (I tried to wait at home for as long as possible, as I'm a midwife; I know how busy they can get.)
I got in to the hospital about 11:30 p.m. My friends looked after my two daughters, Courtney, 12, and Clair, 10. Being a young mum (23, I had been raped with Courtney) my friends had been a big help, so my husband and I trusted them with our girls.
I went into the examination room and I was 7 centimeters dilated so they took me in to the delivery suite. After several painful contractions and another two hours, I pushed my baby boy out. Lee, my husband, pulled the baby out, as we wished, and he cut the cord. We named him Jack.
