Baby Born at 26 Weeks
By Magan
My pregnancy was going perfectly normal. Nothing went wrong. I had a perfect pregnancy up until one night when I felt what felt like cramps to me, but really were contractions. I didn't think anything of it, so I let it go until the next morning. That's when I noticed that I was bleeding.
This was my first pregnancy, so I didn't know all that much, but enough to know that bleeding isn't normal. I called my doctor, and went straight to the hospital.
There I was checked and I was already a centimeter dilated. They had me lie on my back, not able to get up for anything! They gave me steroids to help the baby's lungs develop faster, and also they gave me magnesium sulfate to try to stop me from going into labor any further.
It lasted for four days, but I ended up delivering a baby boy on Thursday, October 13, 2005, at 10:25 p.m. He weighed 1 pound, 15 ounces and was 13 1/2 inches long.
So far he has been hanging in there, nothing to be done yet, but still he is only 3 weeks old, but is being tough and strong for such a small baby! Let me say, words cannot describe how much I love my little man!
