Snowstorm Baby, Breech, C-Section
By Wendy
Siri was due on March 5, 1999 -- however, at 36 weeks we discovered she was breech. At week 37 we went into the hospital to try to have her turned (they did an external version) but she would not move. Her butt was in my pelvic area and her head was tucked under my ribs. So we scheduled the delivery for March 1st. The weekend before we were going to have carpet put in her room, I was going to set up her cradle and get her diapers all washed (I use cloth) and all her clothes washed and in her dresser...well the morning of February 25th (a Thursday and a blizzard outside) my water broke at 2:30 a.m.. I did not have my bag packed or anything. I woke up my husband and called the hospital and they told me to go back to bed. I told them again that my water broke, we were having a blizzard outside with 6 inches of snow already and I was coming in. They tried to talk me out of it but I packed my bag and off we went -- 2 hours later we made it to the hospital and Siri was delivered c-section at 9:34 a.m. at 6 pounds, 12 ounces and 19 inches long. When she was first pulled out they could not tell if she was a boy or girl because her legs were curled up against her chest. They took her to the warming table and slowly unfolded her -- it took about 5 minutes and then they announced, It's a girl!!
