29 Weeks Pre-eclampsia
By Tania Hales
After being found having a seizure by next-door neighbors I was off to the hospital. Within an hour I had a baby boy. They give me a Cesarean section. I still can't remember before I had the seizure and after and don't really want to.
It turns out I had pre-eclampsia. I was on tablets for high blood pressure, swollen feet and all puffy, but no one had picked it up.
He was born weighing just 922 grams, just under 2 pounds, was on cpap for three weeks, with all the wires. He is now a month old and just has a foot probe and a tube through his nose to feed. Now he has bottles every other feed and now weighs 3 pounds, 2 ounces.
It's the hardest thing to do, living with your baby in SCBU, but there are people there who know what they're doing. I'd just like to share with you that it does get easier even though it doesn't seem it at the time.
