My boyfriend and I went to the movies on a Sunday night, and a few hours later we went to the ER and had a baby boy.

We have known each other for five years. I didn't know I was pregnant until that night. My periods have always been scant and off cycle, so I didn't think anything of the irregularity. I never had morning sickness or breast tenderness, and I only gained 5 pounds, which I thought was my metabolism slowing down. I don't remember any fetal movements, and the doctor said my uterus was so small the baby didn't have any room to move or kick. She told me when she saw me lying on the gurney she thought I might be a month along and having a miscarriage.

The delivery was brief when we arrived in the ER. I was dilated 6 centimeters and was given an epidural. We started calling all the family we could before beginning to push. Our son was born 35 minutes later and was very healthy.

They guestimated his gestational age to be 33 to 36 weeks. He weighed 4 pounds, 11 ounces and was 17 inches long. This was the most amazing thing that has ever happened in my life because I had been told I wouldn't be able to have children. We are getting married next month and cannot believe our good fortune!
