I had a beautiful 9 months of pregnancy. I was well nourished, took vitamins daily and every OB checkup was normal. My due date was on January 14, so at exactly one week of that date, my OB asks me to come in for checkup. He tells me I'm nowhere near delivery so he recommended me to walk and stay active. He also asked me to come in again three days later in order to check for any change.
When I did three days later, my OB noticed I was 1 centimeter dilated. He asked me on which day would I want to deliver, Thursday or Friday. He said I'd get induced. He did not want the baby growing any bigger and neither did he want to wait until actual due date. I chose Friday.
That Friday night at 3:10 a.m., I delivered a healthy baby boy. After my OB quickly sewed up a tear, he noticed that there was still bleeding coming from somewhere. Next thing I know it's noon and I've lost a lot of blood. My doctor informs me that they need to perform an emergency surgery in order to find out where the bleeding was coming from. Three surgeries later, I had a partial hysterectomy performed (one ovary and uterus was removed). They said that even after the hysterectomy, I kept bleeding. One surgeon blamed the bleeding on the size of the baby, others said that my uterus never came back to its size because of a tear in the wall of the uterus. A neurologist was finally able to connect veins back in order to see if the bleeding would stop. They concluded that they tried saving my life and were glad I was alive. I can't have more children. But I'm very thankful we have a beautiful healthy child.
