First Baby at 33 Weeks
It was January 20, and at about 10 a.m. I got a little back pain. That was normal because my back always hurt since I strained it a year ago. I didn't think anything about it because my stomach wasn't getting hard like everyone told me when you go into labor. I had false labor two weeks before, and my stomach got hard then, so this was just my back.

About 4 p.m. I went up to take a shower to relax my back. About 30 minutes later, my boyfriend's sister came up to check in on me. I told her to call my doctor because I got this really sharp pain and lay down in the shower. As she was shutting the door my water broke, and my son's head came out at the same time.

Lisa, my boyfriend's sister, heard me say my water broke. She opened the shower curtain, shut off the water and yelled down to her 16-year-old to call 911. Lisa put her hand under my son's head just as the rest of him came out and as her daughter was coming up the stairs with the phone to the dispatcher. Her daughter saw her mom holding my son and told the dispatcher that the baby was out. By that time she was crying.

Within a minute there were a cop and off-duty rescue workers there checking my son, then me. Finally, the ambulance arrived. The cop that lives next door had to take off the bathroom door so they could get me and my son out of the tub and down to the stretcher.

When we got to the hospital, they finally cut the cord and took my son away to check him. My son did very well for only weighing 4 pounds, 9 ounces and being 17 inches long. He had to stay for a week and a half. He was on oxygen for the first night and had an IV for a week. Then all he had to do was maintain his body heat.

When we left he weighed 4 pounds, 6 ounces.

Now he is 3 months old and is 21 inches long and weighs 12 pounds, 4 ounces. So you can see he is doing very well.
