Rough and Painful – but Worth It
My husband, David, and I got pregnant on February 4, 2005. The 9 months were heaven. He rubbed my belly, massaged my feet and stayed by my side 24/7. I was basically in a spa!

A few days before my due date (November 10), we became really anxious. In fact, my husband checked every five hours or so if he could see a head.

The day before my due date, we packed our stuff up and just decided to relax. We spent the whole day on the bed, rubbing my belly, waiting for our angel to arrive. Around 2 p.m., David and I decided to take a hot bath together. So we sat in the tub, still holding my belly as if it was a precious egg. After about half an hour, he rinsed me off and we got out. It was so hard to wait; we wanted the baby to come!

And apparently it wanted to come out at that moment too. My first contraction was, surprisingly, very painful. I screamed and howled in pain. But we were so excited at the same time! So I took my skirt off and lay down on the bed with my legs slightly out. David looked into my vagina and realized that I was 7 centimeters dilated! I didn't even notice that the baby's head dropped when we were in the bath!

My lower area was completely painful then, so I sat up, with David behind me, and he massaged my neck. It felt so good. He rubbed my lower area, which was when I started to laugh. When I had a contraction, he held my vaginal area, which burned. Then I knew I had to push.

I lay down once again, with my legs out, so he could check. Finally 10! On the next contraction, I pushed really hard. The baby was shooting out so fast, David was scared I was going to rip in two! The tip of the baby's head had made it out and I could feel it. David sort of eased a little more out. By then, I had started to scream. I slowly and painfully sat up on the pillows behind me. Another contraction came, and I pushed and David slightly pulled. The head was out.

I pushed more and more, with David yelling, "Yes! Yes! The baby is coming out!" and Ashley Simone was put into my arms.
