It all started at my sister's wedding when I started being sick. I tried to keep a smiling face as it was her big day, but as soon as I got home I tried a pregnancy test. It was positive.
Everything was fine for a bit until I went for my first ultrasound when I was told I was having fraternal quadruplets. I was gobsmacked and said to the technician, "You're joking, right?" She said no, but I still didn't believe her until she showed me the picture on the screen. There were four little round grey dots. It was only then that it started to sink in. I was having four babies.
The rest of the pregnancy was horrible. My target was to reach 35 weeks, but by week 30 it was torture. I was so huge and I hadn't seen my feet for weeks. Not only that but I had horrible back pains, and I could barely get out of bed in the mornings. In the end, my doctor said that I would have them delivered at 33 weeks.
They all came out really fast: Roseanna Emily came first at 4 pounds, 1 ounce, then Joe Thomas who weighed 3 pounds, 12 ounces. Then came Grace Elizabeth who was 3 pounds, 8 ounces, and then finally came Lauren Genefer at 4 pounds, 5 ounces. They all needed a little help with oxygen at first but after that they had no initial problems. They are 1 year old now and the joy of my life.
