My husband and I found out we were pregnant with twins at 7 weeks. I had morning sickness for the first 12 weeks and everything was great until I was 22 weeks.
I woke up one morning to get ready for work and I had some spotting. I called my OB and went in right away for some investigation. She checked my cervix and I was dilated to 5 centimeters and my bag of water was bulging out of my cervix. She told me to go to the hospital immediately.
I don't remember driving to the hospital. I was really worried and scared trying to figure out what in the world I did wrong.
My sister met me on the street in front of the hospital and helped me get to the correct floor and check in. My husband and parents soon came to the hospital. The initial thought of the doctor was that I had an infection in my uterus. They did an amniocentesis on both of the sacs and nothing came up.
I spent three days in the labor and delivery floor listening to babies' healthy cries as they were born and telling my two babies, "Do you hear that? I want you to stay in there long enough to do that when you are born."
Finally on the fourth day the doctor felt I was stable enough to be moved into the high-risk floor. I stayed there for six weeks on bed rest. The day before I was 28 weeks pregnant I went into spontaneous labor and gave birth to our two miracle babies. Baby A was born vaginally weighing 2 pounds, 8 ounces and baby B was born via emergency Cesarean section three minutes later weighing 2 pounds, 6 ounces. They are in the NICU and are scheduled to come home very soon.
