I woke up at 3 a.m. because I was having contractions that I could not sleep through. So my husband Ryan and I got in the bath together. When I got in the tub the contractions started to build fast. Suddenly I felt a pop and there was bloody mucous in the water. My water had broken.

By then I was freaked out so we went to the birth center. On the way to the birth center contractions intensified but I handled it well. As soon as I got there I got in the Jacuzzi. Resting in the tub felt good and soon I was in my own world.

Soon my midwife wanted me to try a different position out of the tub. So I tried the birth ball. My midwife helped me get into a good position and I started to rock my hips and moan. Soon I got a strong urge to push. So I used the squat bar. I tried the squat for a few pushes, relaxing in between, but decided to try the birth stool for a little extra support. In less than three hours I was holding our healthy baby girl, Brooke Marie Rose.
