In February 2007, I found out I was pregnant. I was only 18 so it was quite a shock. My due date was October 31, 2007. All through my pregnancy the midwifes told me I would have a small baby, about 5 to 6 pounds, as I'm only 5 foot. But as my due date came and went I got bigger and bigger. On November 9, at nine days overdue, I had a membrane sweep to hopefully kick start labor but nothing happened. So at 6 p.m., on the 12th of November, I was induced. I started having contractions at 1 p.m., so was moved to the labor ward. At 2 p.m. I was 4 centimeters dilated but not in any pain. At 4.30 p.m. I was now 7 centimeters and in pain, so had gas and air. At 8 p.m. my waters broke. By 8:50 a.m. I needed to push and was fully dilated I pushed three times and my baby's head came out! Then one final push and she was born at 9.06 a.m. on November 13, 2007, 13 days overdue weighing 8 pounds, 4 ounces. I named her Ava! I had a lovely birth experience and am now seven weeks pregnant with my second child and can't wait to give birth again.
