24-weeker: My Miracle
On July 15, 2006, at 12 o'clock I started to feel pressure in my lower part of my stomach. I called the doctor and she told me to go lie down for an hour, drink a lot of fluids and if they didn't go away in an hour to go in.

An hour later I went to the bathroom and noticed I was bleeding. I immediately went to the hospital.

They put in triage for like three hours monitoring me. My doctor came in and examined me and said I was 3 centimeters dilated. They immediately put IV fluids and admitted me. They tried everything to stop my labor but she was motivated; she wanted out.

Fourteen hours of intense labor later, Remi Jane Almestica was born weighing 1 pound, 11.2 ounces. That morning they transferred her to St. Mary's where they had a NICU level 3. They put her on a ventilator and monitored her closely. She was so little. She was on phototherapy for awhile.

She was about 2 weeks old and started getting my breast milk. A week later she got really sick and we discovered she had NEC. Luckily our prays were answered and she recovered from it.

She is now 10 weeks old weighing 3 pounds, 14 ounces and doing great. She is my miracle child and a blessing from God!
