I Gave Birth to My Baby 16 Weeks Early
By Bethany Harrieys
August 13, 2007, I went into labor. It wasn't any normal labor; I was in labor at 24 weeks. The doctors tried to stitch me up but the contractions continued and they had no choice but to let me push. Labor continued and after 33 minutes I gave birth to a lifeless baby girl. She never cried and was limp.
They rushed her to the NICU. Her heart stopped five times so she more or less died five times. She weighed 1 pound, 4 ounces 7 pounds lighter than an average-sized baby. She was no bigger than the size of my hand.
I decided to call her Maddison Mae. She was beautiful and I wasn't going to leave the hospital without her.
Months went by and she was doing so well. When she was 3 months old she weighed 4 pounds, 4 ounces, and at 5 months old I was allowed to take her home. She was beautiful and I couldn't wait to become her mommy.
She is now 13 months old and beautiful as ever. She weighs 19 pounds and is perfectly healthy. I am now expecting my second baby, who will hopefully be born December 23, 2008. I know it's another girl and I have decided to call her Shelly after my mum.
