When I delivered at 23 weeks three doctors said Isaiah would not survive before 24 weeks. Yet another doctor came and said my baby's heart was not beating outside of my body.
But in just seconds, all of that changed.
Isaiah is 4 days old, is drinking milk and is working toward breathing on his own. Doctors found none of the bleeding in his precious brain that is typically associated to premature birth, and his 1 1/2-pound body is fully formed.
He is hooked up to quite a bit of equipment at a NICU about four hours away and has some growing to do. Yet I believe these moments are tied into God's plan for us and that Isaiah will come out of this whole, healthy and strong.
While his journey isn't over, I'm so grateful for such a strong web of friends, family and co-workers.
