Our First Born Baby at 26 Weeks
I was pregnant with my first child and everything was going fine until May 2004 when I was 26 weeks pregnant. I started getting pains around my tummy and knew something was wrong.

I waited a few hours, then rang the hospital and they asked me to go down to get checked over. When they examined me they said my labor had started and they couldn't stop it. That was at 1 a.m. in the morning. By 9 a.m. my son was born weighing 2 pounds, 3 ounces, which my partner and I were told was a good weight for his gestation.

He didn't have any major complications other than he was small. He came home after just 10 weeks in the NICU, which was a month before he should have actually been born.

My son is 2 years and 6 months and is as healthy and active, if not more so, than any other child his age. The only thing is he's still a bit small. The reason I am writing our story is to let people know that it isn't always bad news if your child is born so premature.

Your baby's labor and delivery is like no other in the world. Let others know what your experience was like.
