Grady is a true miracle. I started contracting about a week before even going to a hospital because everyone I knew, including doctors, said that I was fine. The cramping was not consistent and only a few were painful. Being pregnant for the first time I guess that I believed it because it took that week and some bleeding before I rushed to the hospital.
It was then that I found out that my little baby boy was trying to make an appearance 17 weeks early. I was put on IV fluids, magnesium and given steroids for the baby's sake. Labor stopped for three days and I thought that we were going to make it much longer. Grady, however, had his own agenda. He came into the world weighing 1 pound, 8 ounces.
He has suffered through four surgeries due to underdeveloped intestines and bowel, but is now a big bundle of joy! Grady just passed the 11-week mark and is weighing close to 5 pounds already! God has blessed this little man with strength and a strong will to live. I thank him every day for my miracle.
