Mathias' Mommy

I'm just 18 years old and I have a premature son. He is such a miracle. I gave birth to him three months before my due date. I was only 6 months pregnant to him when he came out. He was born on February 15, 2009, but he was supposed to be born on May 7, but that didn't happen.

It was 2 in the morning when I started having contractions but I thought that it was just cramps. So I tried to sleep it off. I was sleeping and waking up throughout the whole morning. I couldn't even carry myself around the house. I was in the meanest pain that I ever went through in my entire life.

At 11 in the morning I decided to go to the hospital to see what was going on. When I went to the hospital the doctors told me that I had dilated 2 centimeters. So they rushed me to that main hospital that does pregnancy. And when I reached there I was 4 centimeters dilated. They kept shoving me with all these pills that were supposed to slow and calm down my contractions but it wasn't working and it made my contractions even worse.

Then I started going in through labor. I was 6 centimeters dilated when they popped my water bag. But it wasn't water. It wasn't even white. It was yellow and greenish color.

When they popped my water bag that's when I started pushing. I was only 6 centimeters dilated and I pushed him out all the way. It was so painful.

When he finally came out they took him out of the room so fast that I couldn't even see him. They took him downstairs into the NICU and the nurses put me in the room. The only way I could see him was if I ate a meal first. So I did and I went straight down to see him.

He was the smallest baby that I had ever seen. But it was such a beautiful sight. He was born at 2 pounds, 9.4 ounces, and 15.5 inches. He stayed in the NICU for one month, three weeks and six days. Then he finally came home.

Now that he's home I have become a better person and I know that I have matured a lot. But I still have a little fun now and then. Thanks for listening to my story. I really appreciate it.
