We tried so hard to get pregnant and I was SO excited when I found out I was! I got sicker and sicker as my pregnancy moved forward. My blood pressure got so high that they put me on bed rest and when it didn't get better they admitted me to the hospital. That night I gained 30 pounds in water weight and the next morning they decided to deliver the baby at exactly 24 weeks. He was so perfect and so special!! Born on December 19, 2006, weighing in at 1 pound, 1 ounce, he was so precious and special. Doctors said his survival rate was 50/50.
My little guy had a lot of struggles. He had double hernia surgery, retinopathy of prematurity, PDA surgery and pneumonia. Those were just the major issues. He had many more. He came home weighing 4 pounds, 11 ounces, and is doing just fine today. He just turned 3 last month and he has totally caught up developmentally and everyone is just AMAZED by how well he has done. He didn't need any early intervention at all. He is such a miracle to me. I thank my Heavenly Father every day for that precious little Christmas miracle in my life.
