I had my baby four and a half days early elected Cesarean because I had placenta previa and he was breech. I was booked in the Royal Women's Hospital in Brisbane.
August 19, 2002 at 9 a.m. I went in after being prepped and got the epidural put in, which was scary for me because I hate needles. I was taken through the doors into the operating room where they put the screen up, etc.
Then they went to cut me and I screamed. The first epidural never worked, so they had to sit me up and do it again. At this time my partner was still waiting in the room where I had the first epidural wondering what was wrong. They finally got it under way, then called my partner in.
They cut me open and got Jack out. Then suddenly my blood pressure dropped fast. I started hearing alarms going off. I was starting to really panic. Then they put this stuff in my IV that was supposed to bring the blood pressure back up again, and it did, but the taste went straight to my mouth and I nearly choked.
Anyway, I finally got to see my baby, Jack, for the first time. He was born at 11:03 a.m., and I got out of the OR at 12:30 p.m.
Now it is February 20, 2004, and I am due with my second child on May 31, 2004. I am trying for VBAC. If there are any readers who are doing a VBAC, please e-mail me, and I will be happy to share the rest of the pregnancy with you.
