After telling my mother and my fiancée about it, everything turned out to became more acceptable. I chose a Cesarean section since I started my prenatal.
My doctor was wonderful. My pregnancy was beautiful, no morning sickness, no swelling. I only knew I was carrying a life inside of me when I felt the kicks. My delivery was scheduled for April 25, 2003.
My husband, my mother, my mother-in-law and I headed to the hospital. I couldn't stop crying thinking that in less than two hours I'd meet my baby. But I still thought I wasn't ready to become a mother.
Everything was ready. I got prepped and was in the surgical room. My mother-in-law went with me and comforted me. My doctor again was wonderful. Everything went perfectly. And, most important, I couldn't feel a thing.
But I knew I was the one giving birth. OK, I had a little help. But it was my baby. Nobody could take it from me. Oh, hearing his first cry made me completely emotional. I cried like a baby.
Matthew was the best thing that ever happened to me, even when I have to wake up every two or three hours to feed him in the middle of the night. When I look at his angel face, tears roll from my eyes.
My recovery was easy, but I had to follow hospital rules and stayed there for three more days. My husband and mother were there every single day, which made me feel more comfortable.
My baby is today 2 months old. He certainly is God's gift. I am proud of myself. I don't need to add a thing to my life. I feel totally complete.
