My Little Daughter

I found out I was pregnant on the 31st of October. My boyfriend was actually the one to read the pregnancy test as I was too afraid. We finally came to a decision that we would need to move to the city as that's where the money really is. He went for a job interview in December and started work in January. I stayed behind in our home town in the coast. We lived apart for three months.

At 5 months I started complications of bleeding and was admitted into the hospital. They told me if the bleeding didn't stop they would have to do a D&C. I was petrified at that remark. I was discharged that night, thank the Lord.

I moved up to the place my now-fiancé was living in and settled into our new home. I was coming to a date that I had to go for monthly checks and I could not find a doctor that could see to me or even deliver my baby.

A week before my due date we found a doctor who was kind enough to squeeze me in. It was Thursday morning when she took one look at me and said, "No way are you having a natural birth, lady." Once again my heart broke as that was a dream for me to have natural birth.

Baby Sarah-Lee was too big for my frame and had to be delivered by Cesarean section. The doctor ordered me to be in the hospital on Monday morning June 25, 2007, at 12 p.m. I was so scared as I was not prepared.

Sarah-Lee was born at 4:40 p.m. Sarah-Lee weighed 2.6 kilograms and was 45 centimeters long. "What a healthy pair of lungs," the doctor said while handing me my beautiful girl. Her father, Troy, was so happy, tears filled our eyes. He stood by me through the whole procedure. It was not at all as everyone says it would be. Just the pain you endure afterwards is painful. It's an experience I won't ever forget.

Your baby's labor and delivery is like no other in the world. Let others know what your experience was like.
