Hi I'm Camillia and this is my birth story. I am an 18-year-old single mother to a beautiful little girl. Nevaeh was not a planned baby but I won't go into details as to how come I got pregnant.
I found out I was pregnant in January and yes, I was 14 weeks along and didn't know it. I went to the doctor the first time on February 15, 2008, at 19 weeks along and the doctor said she thought the baby was a girl but wasn't sure. I went back the next week at 20 weeks and had another ultrasound and found out I was having a girl. I was a high-risk, so I got six ultrasounds.
At 5 months Nevaeh was head down, and at 6 months she was sideways with her head on my right side. And at 7 months she was breech (butt first), so the doctor said she could try to turn her herself or wait and see if she turned again herself. But the doctor said if she tried to turn her it would be painful so I opted to see if Nevaeh would turn. She didn't, so at 32 weeks the doctor said I would have to have a Cesarean section at 38 weeks. I went to the doctor for the last time on Friday and had Nevaeh on Wednesday.
The C-section wasn't bad at all. I was admitted that morning. The C-section was scheduled for 7:30 a.m. but I had to be there at 6:30 a.m. to be monitored and get ready for it.
Oh, before I forget, the Saturday after the Friday I went to the doctor. I was having labor pains and was about to go to the hospital when they quit and I didn't have any more till the morning I went to the hospital to have her (July 2, 2008).
I was having mild contractions when I got there and then I got dressed in those hospital gowns everybody loves to wear. They hooked me up to the fetal monitor and gave me some nasty brown stuff to drink to keep me from getting sick during surgery.
At exactly 7:30 a.m. I was taken to the delivery room, which was very cold, and the anesthesiologist came in and gave me my spinal. Then my mom came in there with me and sat by my head on my left side. The anesthesiologist asked me if I wanted to know when she (my doctor, who was also pregnant) started. I said yes and he said she started five minutes ago and I didn't know it.
At exactly 8:02 a.m. I heard my beautiful baby screaming hello for the first time. I stayed in surgery for about another 45 minutes while they took her to the nursery. I got to see her before they took her though.
Then when the doctor finished I was moved to recovery and they brought me my beautiful little girl and I held her for the first time. She weighed 7 pounds, 5 1/2 ounces and was 2l inches long and the most precious thing I have ever received. I stayed numb for seven hours after the surgery.
I could say more but that about covers the important parts. Oh, I forgot, her full name is Nevaeh Dawna Grace.
