Sarah's Birthday

I found out very early on that I was going to have to have a Cesarean section. I was pretty bummed out at first but then eventually got used to the idea. Really the only thing that I was so worried about was having to have an IV.

April 10, 2007, was the day of my C-section. We got to the hospital at 10 a.m. that morning. It took forever to get the IV in and going, mainly due to me not taking it very well. After about an hour they wheeled me back to the operating room. The doctor then gave me my spinal. That wasn't as bad as the IV. Then my husband got to come in. Really after the spinal took effect I felt like I couldn't breathe. I didn't like being tied down either.

Once they got started on the delivery it didn't take long at all. Sarah was born at 1:29 p.m. I got to see my baby for about a minute, then she was gone to the nursery. I was in recovery for about an hour after that.

We got to go home after three days. It was great at home. Then I went to my doctor the week after the surgery. Everything seemed to be healing normal, until the next night when the incision looked like it had a blood clot coming out of it. I then went back to the doctor and they had to re-open the wound. It hurt so bad because it had gotten a blood clot and they had to clean it out. I had an open incision for six weeks. I was having to go to the doctor every other day. Then on the days I didn't go I had to pack the wound myself.

I didn't find my C-section as enjoyable as most people do. I really hated everything about it. Now my doctor has told me that with my next delivery I will be closed up with staples. It's not going to make me stop having babies though. Hopefully with my next delivery it will go a little more smoothly.
