Hello, Shanti
It was early May when Daddy and I found out we were pregnant. We were over the moon. We found out your due date was December 23, 2008. We rang and told everyone and they all were so excited for us.
Mummy had bad morning sickness. Some days it lasted for all day. She was craving lasagna, which wasn't good for her as she had bad heartburn after that.
Mummy was going through a lot of stress at that time. Her mum (your nana) had moved away to Australia and had told everyone she was going for a holiday. On Tuesday, the 20th May, Nana told your mummy she wasn't coming back. That broke Mummy's heart and she was extremely worried how your granddad would cope.
On the morning of May 21, 2008, Mummy was in a lot of pain. She woke up, had a coffee and she felt like she had wet her pants. Alas, we had lost you.
Mummy kept it to herself all day long, as she didn't want to upset Daddy at work.
When Daddy came home from work Mummy told him. They both were in shock. Mummy thought she would be OK, so the next day Daddy went to work and Mummy rang your nana in Australia to tell her what had happened. When your Nan didn't show any signs of emotions your mummy broke down.
Mummy, in the short 10 weeks she held you in her body had bonded with you. She knew you were going to be a sweet little girl.
Daddy came home from work early that day as Mummy wanted him home. Mummy and Daddy both sat together holding each other and cried.
People around us didn't understand what we were going through. They just told us we can have fun trying again. But we had a baby. Although we never got to hold you or see you, we still loved you.
Today Mummy and Daddy are still heartbroken. You were a very much wanted and planned little girl, and to lose you was the last thing we wanted.
We brought you a balloon with ribbons and a little toy. Mummy tied her engagement ring to the ribbon and we were going to let it float down the river in our way of saying goodbye, but Mummy has not been able to let you go just yet.
We bought you a pair of pants before you were taken from us, and they turned up two days after you were taken. Mummy and Daddy now sleep with these pants in their bed.
Shanti, I know you are watching over us, and Daddy got your message from you saying you are OK, and we know you visited Mummy in her dreams and told her not to fret, that you are OK and that you love us both. But you will always live in our hearts and we will miss and love you forever.
Love, Mummy and Daddy
