I am so proud to say I had a successful VBAC.
First baby I had my first Cesarean section only 15 months earlier, and it was due to a failed induction. I was a gestational diabetic and I was induced at 39 weeks. I was in labor for 16 hours and had made no progress even after two doses of ripen gel and Pitocin.
Second baby- I was a gestational diabetic. I went into natural labor on my due date after my doctor's appointment that day and he swept my membranes. I was dilated to 1 centimeter and 75 percent effaced.
I started to feel contractions as soon as he was finished, and I went to the hospital probably four hours after he had swept my membranes. As I arrived at the hospital I was dilated to a good 2 and 80 percent effaced. I stayed and got an epidural at about 3 or 4 centimeters.
At 5 centimeters my doctor broke my water. I was put on low doses of Pitocin and had internal monitors on the baby and my uterus.
At 3:30 a.m., after 17 hours of labor, I was ready to push. Baby's heart rate dropped suddenly and I pushed for about five or 10 minutes and the doctor used forceps because of her heart rate drop. She needed to come out fast. As she came out she aspirated blood and was intubated within 60 seconds of birth. She was 7 pounds, 4 ounces.
After a week in the NICU she is home and very healthy! They said her problems were not due to a vaginal delivery. It was still so amazing to give birth. I still would rather go through this again then a section.
Your baby's labor and delivery is like no other in the world.
